The Secret Government: The Constitution in Crisis, by Bill Moyers
"We the people (...)", so starts the constitution of the United States of America. Yet, as much as other famous declarations ("Declaration des droits de l'homme"), it has been corrupted by time.
The "Founding Fathers" used terminology from the science of their time (steam engines) to express political power, and they designed the constitution as a mechanism of control of this power using techniques of this time. Yet, the mechanism has rusted and it is time for a renewal. The parasites have adapted, and it is time fore the defense mechanism to co-evolve.
New techniques are available, in particular in term of communication: that's indeed one of the source of desequilibrium of the old balance of power arranged by the constitution. We must find the "Founding Fathers" of our era, who will design a new system taking advantage of those new technologies, to reestablish the balance of power.
And maybe this time they should make it clear that a Constitution is bound to co-evolve with the world, as long as it ensures that people are maintained aware and educated of the whole mechanism.
